The Brightside Of Winter

Well... Happy Monday...

Can you see...er...read my sarcasm this morning? Why I post on Monday's I have no idea, maybe it makes my day better after checking in with you?...and possibly a caffeine IV.

I'll check after this post.

Funny though I have no idea where this post is going to go today! I saw on the news this morning that today is the most depressing day of the year.

I don't find it depressing so much that it's Monday and that's always a long drawn out drag my ass day, but I think of mid January as the road to the upside of brighter days ahead. Not much longer and the weather will brighten up! Clocks will spring forward and being here in Vancouver it will still rain...A LOT...but that's OK as long as the days are light. I'm already thinking of getting back out there on the porch, in the sun and that keeps me going through the possibly awful Feb we MIGHT have. It is supposed to be the coldest month but I still see things blooming and the squirrels are confused too.

For that matter so are my cats and their fur...Bast is full fluff while Oz maintains his coat but Boscoe...poor Boscoe he's so screwed that his winter fur is in a battle with summer fur and he's starting to look like one of those hideous hairless cats! He just turned 9 though so maybe he's going through a kitty cat midlife crisis.

(Oh ya baby positive thinking, that's how I roll with it)

I got an update on Touring Tony who has a Facebook page and an Instagram page but still hasn't turned up yet at my door! I have been assured that his kidnappers have been notified and he should be making his way to Canada to me and hopefully we don't traumatize him too much!

If your interested in having Touring Tony visit you check out the pages and be sure to follow the instructions and he could be on his way to you.

My weekend was so uneventful that I don't even remember what I did!

I wrote ( that's an improvement )
I posted what I wrote ( also an improvement )
I wrote some more ( a pattern? )
Spent time catching up on You Tube videos ( remembered that I have one to edit and post from forever ago and might forget again )
I did some Social Media Maintenance and realized that there are still some things I know nothing about ( keeps me interested and lost at the same time )
Blondunicorn had her birthday! ( and a tech meltdown but it's all good )
Another friend relived a loss and reminded us that life is precious. ( live every bit of it you can )

What did you do?

Have a great week!
See Ya,

Fire In The Sky for Halloween

Hi Lovelies!

Did you have a good Halloween? I did even though it was harder than usual to get into the spirit of things it was a good night.

Besides Bean being the spirit of the party, she put a majority of the food together and decorations...she went a tad crazy but I loved it all. except that to stick it to me she dressed herself as Mrs. Clause and the next day made me watch a Christmas movie...already...ugh...

Before I continue though I have to mention a conversation I had with one of our party goers though because it cracks me up every time I think about it.

I went into the shop at the back of the house to ask Choo something...(I don't remember what) and he was in there talking to one of our regulars Jer. Now Jer was a wee bit intoxicated before he showed up our house so imagine a slightly swaying man in an over-sized jacket.

As I'm talking to Choo this happens...

Jer - Hey Steph...want a smoke. (creepy, soft spoken, pusher smooth here)
Me - Ahh no thanks I'm good! (eyes shift to Choo)
Jer - (leans in closer not breaking eye contact) No really...want a smoke I have smokes...
Me - (slowly backing away) Um...nope I'm ok but thanks!

He reaches in his pocket and pulls out a brand of cigarettes I've never see before and hands them to me...still not breaking eye contact.

Jer - I've got you covered. If you need smokes I can get you smokes ( still giving off pusher vibes )
Me - (I take them and look) Oh is this a new brand?
Jer -  ( no change of tone still creepy pusher smooth ) No...
Me - (looks at Choo, looks at Jer, looks at Choo again, shrugs looks back at Jer ) Um...ok?

A bit of a staring contest...

Jer - (finally after what seemed like forever) They're Native smokes...

Here I realize that it makes complete sense that I wouldn't have known them...mind you I wouldn't have smoked them...I'm trying to quit and those would have destroyed me.

Me - Oh! So you got them off the Res?

At that point Jer snapped out of what whatever weird haze he was in, looked at me with this shocked I should have know better, eyebrow raised expression and says...

"No! I get them in the park where I buy everything!"

I almost died laughing right there.

After a while I strolled into the kitchen and Choo was out back telling me to come quick and what I saw from that same Reservation we had been talking about was the biggest, brightest firework exploding and lighting up the sky. We collected everyone outside on the back porch to watch 20 mins of entertainment that almost felt like it was for us. We've lived in that house for over 4 years and never seen anything like that.

They put on a show that's for sure! Many OOOOO's and AHHHHH's from all of us made it one of the coolest things. Thank goodness it was a dry Halloween!

There will be pics to follow here and on Instagram soon so check back.

Oh! one final thing I HAVE to mention...I like cider...I like Growers and always like to try any new flavours. I picked up the newest one Bing Cherry...yum right? It smelled awesome and it tasted good...until I swallowed it....then you know what it tastes like???...

Cough medicine...that's it... cough medicine...it was gross....kind of like Robitussin or Cherry Nyquil... more so the Robitussin.

Here's a smile for your Monday!
That kills me!

Have a great week!
See Ya

I Am A Fan of Fan Expo!

Hello Lovlies!

The title of this one says it all for me. I had so much fun! Keep in mind that Fan Expo Vancouver is smaller than any of the other Conventions and at the same time it was great to go to something at the start that will turn into something much bigger over time.

This was only the 3rd convention in Vancouver so far and I loved every minute of the day. There were so many people in costume as it should be and I'm glad I started here. If I went to Comicon as my first one I think my inner Nerd would have had a heart attack as it was she was swooning from the second we went through the doors. My Social Media outlets were all a buzz with stuff. I haven't been able to upload all the pics.

I do wish I had been more comfortable with asking cosplayer or 30 for a photo though and next year as well as being one ( I'm really going to try and make that happen ) I'm going for broke. Some of their costumes were just amazing and inventive except the really bad plastic bag Batman.

Oh and the Steampunk! I almost went to Steampunk heaven, the clothes the jewlery all of the other stuff! I even bought a 50 calander that looks like a... I can't even explain it kind of like a clock but not really. I'll post it later and give kudos to The Attic who had a table there that I didn't want to leave.

The pics of it will be posted on my Instagram and Tumblr. Tabs are at the top.

I think I stalked Robert Englund for over an hour. He was one of the only celebs that sat in his booth regardless of whether he had autographs to sign or not and chatted away with fans. so I stood directly in front of him and stayed there! Paige got a picture with him and I thought she was going to die. Sese got a picture with her Cosplay idol Jessica Nigri and she is super cute.

There was so much going on and so much to see and all I kept thinking was Comicon is much bigger than this...I... have... to go.
For now though I'll focus on what's in front of me, making things better as well as worthwhile and making my dreams come true.

Everybody needs some of that right?

See Ya,
S

Not By The Hair Of My Chinny Chin Chin!

It's that time again!

The weather has been so exceptionally nice that I haven't really sat down at the computer for awhile. While still Instagraming ( because I'm addicted to it, that's why the photo challenge I started has failed) and maintaining other social media I haven't spent much time writing and that's the thing I love to do!

So what's happened...?

Choo and I went to the City and Colour concert here in Vancouver a couple of weeks ago and it was fun night! Baking hot during the day and they put lids on the beer but keep the ones from your water bottle. We even ran into people we knew there in the midst all of the people.

With the collective help of the house and neighbours we finally have California and Smokey on some level of acceptance within the pack.

It's simple...Smokey must accept that Cali doesn't want him anywhere near her.

Went to a Bridal Shower for one of my best friends who is the hardest person ever to surprise and I think I might have...sort of. She's a tough cookie but there's a gooey center in there! Her niece was the comic relief that day in all of her cuteness.

Found out a neighbour was going to purchase a rabbit for his dog ( beagle) to kill...WTF??? People, I don't get it! I completely understand that some people use their dogs for hunting but...we're in the city and you want to trap it so it can't escape. The interesting thing was seeing how the guys reacted to it compared to how the women reacted.

Yes we love small furry animals and big Pitbulls that scare the crap out of you when he barks at a car honking. That just happened and I think I peed a little.

The general male consensus was " meh it's none of our business" while the general female one was to pen up the neighbour and have something much larger chase him.

(That was the nicest one)

Now for the record our outrage was definitely noted and we have no idea if they went through with it and after our very open disgust I don't think we'll ever know.

Deciding to get into some form of shape was a laugh fest! I bought this torture device called an Ab Roller. It's literally 2 wheels, a bar and my abs screamed at me the first time I used it. Watching B use it had me laughing so hard I almost fell off the couch and then it was my turn.

I almost returned it! B decided to use it when I was at the Bridal Shower and the next thing I knew I had a text message saying that my kid had hurt herself and split open her chin... The Ab Roller had drawn first blood.

How you ask? Well the Ab Roller is used while you are on your knees and you roll it back and forth engaging your core...simple enough? Well B "forgot" that she was supposed to be on her knees and tried to do it from a push up position. When she pulled back the wheels rolled under her and she slammed right onto her chin. The shit happens when I'm not home and with Craig here at the time the onslaught of jokes began,

1) Chin up B!
2) Chinny Chinny Bang Bang
3) Let's watch the Chinning!

Oh the list went on...and on. He did say she took the hit well considering he figured she should have been knocked out. Thank god she wasn't.

The Zoo itself is always entertaining!

That's all for now Lovelies everything will be updated and I'll be back soon!

See ya!
