Weekend Wrap Up Easter 2016

Short and Sweet today guys!

Well on this beautiful sunny Tuesday with cold mornings and warm afternoons all I want to do is not be trapped in an office. At the same time though I don't want it to move too quickly. Winter just left and I'm dreading the next one already. I know I know...

I hope you all had a Happy Easter! I spent mine a various amount of ways. Friday me and the brood went to see Batman vs Superman. Alright I'm not going to say it was awful because it wasn't completely. How do I say this without spoiling it? Hmmm...quickly.

The action sequences were good, they should have utilized Wonder Woman more, the only crazy Lex Luther I can handle is Gene Hackman, Ben Affleck made a really good Bruce Wayne but Batman???? Not his fault though Batman is hard to live up to, so is Superman but Henry Cavill can do it and was really the only thing that held me to the movie besides seeing how Wonder Woman was going to fit in. There were many random points to me and although I know that some of them are there for the introduction of the Justice League they still seemed too random to me. Randomly placed? Unexplained....

The next night was a b-day party for Bean's Boyfriend and that was entertaining watching a bunch of 20 somethings, remembering when I was a 20 something and thanking god I'm not a 20 something anymore although my 20's was not what most are... there are still stories in there that should never be told.

Ever.

Sunday was when Parker did his tiny Easter egg hunt. Since T lives with us again and is getting a foothold back into her life, I leave the little man to her because now when he comes over it's more so to visit with his mom than it is to see the rest of us. Don't get me wrong I get in my hugs and cuddles the I love you's and it's nice when he looks for me and wants to play or show me something. He's 3 and the world through his eyes is big, unknown and always holding a surprise. Had coffee with my bestie and her tiny man who's about 1 1/2 and is just realizing himself how big the world is. and looks at everything through big eyes.

So the rest of the weekend held sitting in the sun contemplating my existence. Which I gave up on and instead spent the rest of the time studying for my learners to ride.

Just a quickie!

Have a great week!

See Ya

Weekend Wrap-Up

Hello Lovelies!

We are almost in the middle of Feb now and it's moving really fast. I'm thank full for that in some ways but not in others.

Thankful because it brings RRSP season to an end and brings T home with us next week, hopefully for good and in a much better place than she was. Bean is taking a shot at Carpentry ( oh god ) by building a rack for all of her snakes. Let's hope there are no hospital visits. Don't get me wrong I'm sure she'll manage after she loses her mind in frustration about 1000 times before she slips into that gear where is should all make sense. Her losing her mind is dangerous for those around her though so I hope she gets through a most of that before I get home from work.

My weekend was pretty good weather wise and on the home front. Friday I let loose a little...or a lot, entertained the household and felt it the next day. Sat there was some spring cleaning done outside and you don't realize how big things are ( yard and deck ) until all of the junk is gone, and a friend came in from Calgary for the shortest visit ever, 45 mins after driving all that way through snowy mountain passes to drop of a Harley for Choo. Sunday well...the Superbowl. Enough said.

Monday was Family Day here and it was B-E-A-uitful! Uncharacteristically warm, like t-shirt warm and even my roses are starting to grow new leaves. today it's supposed to hit 15 degrees downtown but it was pretty frosty this morning. Almost lost the little dog as he slide across the deck towards the stairs but he recovered.

My girl came home yesterday a 2001 Sportster and would you believe the men in my life gave me flack about not cleaning her right away? Look boys I will devote a day to cleaning and polishing her, I will be so meticulous that you'll want me to polish yours too so don't you worry your pretty little heads about it.

So that was my weekend and this coming weekend all I can think about is Deadpool and The Walking Dead. I'm so glad they are both almost here!

Alright gotta go!

Have a good week.

See Ya

It's All A Blur

Morning Lovelies!

This one will be short and sweet. Let's hope anyway!

It's funny how the weekend can sometimes be so boring but yet speed by and you're only left with a 48 hour blur.

Friday night was a cooking frenzy ( that I should have Instagramed but yes I was slacking ) I love it when someone stops by with a club pack of meat, shoves it in my face and without actually saying "cook for me" instead says "So I hear some food's being made here tonight." with pleading eyes. come on now food is being made every night.

Sat might have resulted in a couple of hospital trips because Friday night it rained and then promptly froze over so anyone coming down our front walkway well...not all of them made it to the door upright and all 3 dogs almost slid right off the deck to their impending doom. Everyone was alright though!

As a bonus from work I received a gift card so how did I spend it? Making dinner for 8 people 6 of whom live there already so it wasn't much of a stretch. T was home for the night and desperately wanting food that didn't contain Beaners and Wiens as she so innocently put it but me and Lo almost died laughing and forever now Beans and Wieners will never be the same. I love having her home and in a good head space. We used to be a household that had Sunday dinners every week with friends and I miss that too. I miss them, some more than others as the people we knew have drifted away over the years but maybe it's a sign to have that weekly thing come back.

Now my posts for the next 6 weeks will probably be sporadic since work will take up alot of my brain along with attempting to de-clutter my house. You know the problem with cleaning things out to get rid of them? Letting go of the things you feel obligated to keep. First my living room looks like a bomb hit it because for everything I take out and recycle, throw out or choose to donate, the pile on my couch gets bigger. What do you keep and what should go?

I guess though that if this is the year to Go Big then I should just tank it all, right?...oh boy...we'll see how that goes.

Ok guys, have a good week. I'll try to stay in touch!

See Ya.

Let's Just Pretend That Didn't Happen.

Happy Ugh...
Hi Lovelies!

So...how ya doing? I hope your weekend was good.

I tried to do yard work and realized I just need to get rich and hire a gardener or move. We have a blackberry bush from hell in the yard which over the course of 5 years has taken over the skyline because it's MUCH taller than it is wide. Half on my property and half on the neighbours. Wait there is 2 of them one that along with Morning glory ( also from hell ) is choking the Walnut tree that I have never actually seen bare Walnuts. the other one has consumed the decrepit shed out back so that only one door shows and I swear a family of Raccoon's is living in it.

I did clean up the back yard a bit until it got to hot to be out there and I switched my gardening to the indoor variety until it got cooler. That led me into a Walking Dead Marathon of Season 5 before the premier of FEAR the Walking dead. WOOOOOOOO!

As usual it starts out as a typical Zombie flick where the outbreak has already started and we don't know how. With rare exceptions like 28 Days Later when they show you how it starts FEAR followed the same pattern as the not so rare. First half of the show...character introductions and establishing relationships a little long but the episode was an hour and a half long. After that, shit starts to get real. The character I've latched on to right now though is Nick and not because of that awful white chick shirt he was wearing but because I think he did a not so bad job. To me he looks kind of like a young Johnny Depp with a Christian Slater speech pattern. He was the most interesting character for me though. If you haven't seen it you'll see why when you watch it.

I watched and interview with Robert Kirkman saying that the walkers in this show will be like we've never seen them before and there are very noticeable differences in these ones unlike TWD Walkers and I wonder if it's because basically they are the ground zero infected and what happens over time to change the very prominent blue eyed walker?

Watch it and tell me what you think!

OK now it wouldn't be Monday without stupid dumb ass Monday like things so here was my Monday morning so far.

5:45 - Alarm goes off
6:00 - Actually get out of bed
6:02 - Take the dogs out, Chase California out from the front of the house, drag Whiskey back from the neighbours yard, Watch Smokey and the cat pee side by side.
6:10 - Find my clothes from the dryer on my bed and dig through them for god knows what to wear.
6:15 - Watch a video of bears swimming in a pool.
6:20 - Realize I haven't had a coffee yet and instead watch Jon Bon Jovi on Breakfast Television surprise fans with a concert that almost didn't happen. How Nice!
6:25 - Still didn't get my coffee.
6:30 - Face, teeth, Ugh...
6:40 - Kick dogs out of the bedroom, take 30 extra seconds get the little dog out.
6:41 - Oh look my coffee is undressed on the counter. Sugar. Check. Non Dairy Creamer. Check. Travel mug. check.
6:45 - Out the door to the bus stop.
6:55 - Bus late...hmmm.

The bus finally showed up and it was only a few minutes late. I get on and sit in my usual spot, put my feet up on the bar behind the bench of seats across from me, dig my book out and tuck my travel mug between my knees. Turn the page. Sip, after a few more pages I sip again each time putting the mug back between my knees until I feel something warm an wet traveling down my thighs.
Well what do you know...the travel mug is leaking.

Great...

Thank goodness I'm wearing dark grey pants. I change positions of the mug so that it's being braced by my forearm and the wall of the bus with my purse locking it into place it wasn't long until I feel liquid travelling down my arm and I have nothing to clean this up with but I'm confused because I only had half the mug filled when I started. Anyway now I'm sticky in more than one place and am hating this Monday already. So I go to McDonald's and grab a coffee that I can drink and it was free so what's better than that!

The cashier asked me if I wanted it in my travel mug. First thing out of my mouth "Hell No!"

Crap... Sorry lady.

Now the spot has dried and  I'm paranoid about my pants as I have to walk along West Georgia. Looking at it you can't really tell but because I know it's there I can see it as clear as if there were flashing arrows pointing at me, but I just try to pretend it didn't happen.

Got to the office and attacked myself with a wet wipe and now my pants are wet again and I can't move until they dry. Maybe if I'm lucky the rest of the day will move smoothly and I'll be able to get work done on all fronts and then celebrate my youngest daughters 20th B'day tomorrow!

In the fetal position...crying.

Ok Guys!

Have a great week!

See ya

Ramblings Of A Distracted Mind

Hello Lovelies!

I wasn't exactly sure where I wanted to go today for this post. So much has happened in the news and day to day life that I'm not sure where to start so I'm going to let my fingers ramble until I lock on to something.

It was nice to get some much needed rain this weekend! Yet I'm still baffled by the people next door to me that continue to water...their fence...their sidewalk...every f*****g day and consider that the restriction is not their problem. See how I did that? I'm being good (sort of) and semi censoring myself. Why? I  have no idea. Forest fire wise things were a little calmer this weekend.

The house next door is a drug rehab & half way house, 2 doors up we have and alcohol rehab & halfway house we are also being surrounded by assisted living homes and a CFL football player next door too makes it an interesting collage of people. Now the A rehab, their OK and keep to themselves, they used to have a guy that would sing at the top of his lungs every morning and night and he was awful at it but you get used to it and when it was gone I noticed. Mr. CFL, he is like a Ninja you don't see him or his family until they want to be seen and their really easy going. Until recently they thought there were only 3 people living in our house. There are 7 and a complete zoo but it's nice to know we stay under the radar. Assisted living... we've been there long enough for our little corner to become comic relief or drama central of sorts to them and we play a game with the bank of windows that faces us trying to figure out what their watching or even applaud when the old folks are dancing in full view. Many of them still got the moves.

The drug rehab...those guys...need to go if only because their complete rudeness and lack of oh I don't know morals or discretion just plain piss me off. A couple of them are ok and seriously want to get their act together and even one young kid comes over to borrow Choo's tools. At first I thought the kid might be casing the shop but he seems pretty shy and he brings whatever he takes back as soon as he's done with them. That, I can handle but it's the ones that think their tough first of all and that they're the shit and say things that make me want to throw stuff over the fence in hopes to hit one in the mouth especially if their talking trash in the vicinity of any of my girls. So besides them blatantly being loud assholes ( where did my semi censorship go? ) when they come across people they know that are in there with them it makes me feel like it's all for show and I think it's very true because one of those guys got kicked out recently not only for smoking something...in his bedroom but also breaching his parole as Blondunicorn got to see the action with the cops.

So from that constant distraction to trying to set up my writing space, the writing itself as my weekly posts come up every Wed and rewriting what was previously written. During the week, I'm a soldier at it but on the weekends it's a bit harder temporarily because I'm mildly obsessed with the book series I'm reading, it's more like consumed and forcing myself to put down the books is very, very difficult now once I'm done them that will be different and I feel like I'm rewarding myself if I make large strides with my own writing throughout the week.

So with that said and something random injected of me being completely stoked that I found Lita Ford on Twitter it was a good hard week and I'm all the better for it.

I even made myself sit in the car when we took a trip to Costco because...it would have been a bad thing for me to get out of the car...because it was Costco on a Sat morning and it was safer in the car for everybody else. I can't help it though I'm ok with crowds, we have a common goal, get in, buy stuff, you know but it's like stores need a fast and a slow lane and Costco has large lanes to begin with but more often than not there are 3 carts side by side and walking at an alarmingly slow speed. Annnnd...that sets me off as muttered curses are a constant until that one person stops dead in front of me and the curses aren't muttered anymore... they are focused. That's when BU and Sese step in grab me by the arms and shoulders to whisk me away. I just hate being delayed when I'm on a mission and to me shopping of any kind is a mission that takes prep.

BU was was thinking this time though she figured if we got coffee first I would be nice and calm and she told me that was the plan. I told her all she did was give me a weapon and as soon as we hit the parking lot I decided that staying in the car was a much better idea.

Ok I have rambled enough, my fingers have thrown up enough words here. Go about your day and have a great week!

See Ya!

A Writer Refreshed And Renewed?

Happy Monday!

OK I can't even be fake happy about Monday but with coffee in hand and after a weekend of grey skies and weird rain patterns it looks like everyone can breathe again...barely but a deep breath was had anyway! The raccoon is back and has the balls to actually enter the house now repeatedly and my cats stay out of it's way which is just...great...

I had a 3 month check in review at work a couple of weeks ago and my office manager asked if there were any courses that I wanted to take to further my career, my answer right away was no, not that I would decline the chance to learn but we all know that my current job although it is my career at the moment is not what I want to do forever and it made me think... hard about where I'm at now.

In the past week I have reacquainted myself with my characters and have been more than motivated to continue CF.

Last week I tweeted that I fell in love with another authors characters, my own are outraged and demand attention. So I've been giving it, thinking about them, remembering them and treating them like the living breathing beasts that they once were and are again.

My problem is always that life constantly gets in the way and I've probably said it 100 times that I need to get back on the horse and I have. I make sure that at LEAST an hour of every day is dedicated to some angle of writing and utilizing the resources I've had in place but never really took advantage of. I'm even thinking about creating writing space which I don't have now.

With my lunch breaks at work are a perfect time for writing for an hour, it also means that anything I do at home is bonus time. From this new motivation came a new character I created and am very excited about.

And then the daunting task of revising what was previously written and posted begun.

When I went over what I had written over a year or so ago I was mildly appalled! I definitely realized that you should not lose track of what your doing. Too many things fall away and end up missing and then things don't make sense. Way too many!

So after seeing that and being horrified, section by section things are being readjusted and re-written to rebuild that loss of continuity and balance. There were a lot of RE's in that sentence and this entire post actually. That's where I'm at though.

I get help and encouragement from the family and I have to say though that Bean is the one that tries to propel me forward the most when it comes to writing, finding things to help me concentrate, linking my to storyboarding you know telling me to enter contests stuff like that.

I gave Blondunicorn a CPW (Character Profile Worksheet) to create a character for me and I think that's going to be a kind of social experiment I'll probably ask some others to do as well. Just create a character, You have no control over what happens to the character however you create a small back story and hand it over. I'm excited to see where it could go. She's so excited about it and thorough that one I tell ya. Maybe she could write about how the experience went for her? I'll have to ask her or if she's reading this then I just did!

So if your interested let me know and I'll send you out the character sheets or I could just post them I guess eh? Hmm...

Now as I said I've fallen in love with another authors characters and between writing my own and reading hers my brain is full of words...all the time. I have to seriously force myself to put down J.R.Wards books and I'm reading them faster than anything else I read except The Stand which I read in 3 days and these are the same that way 2, maybe 3 days tops.

So if you see me posting writing quotes like this one..

or this one...

It's just me keeping my motivation up until the whole process is like breathing and I end up completely obsessed with it. That's my goal.

Have a great week!

See Ya
S.

Monday And Motivated

Hello Lovelies!

It's a beautiful Monday morning and usually I'm pretty Oscar the Grouch on Monday's but today I feel pretty motivated. To do what exactly? Whatever comes along I'm ready to go!

How was the weekend? Anything interesting happen?

For me it was simple.

Friday after work I came home and watched the remnants of 2 houses across the street from me be completely removed and that was bitter sweet because the houses were vacant, one of them has been empty the whole 4 1/2 years we've lived in our current house. The second house has been vacant about a year unless you count the squatters that ripped out every usable thing in either house and then made it their home despite the boarded up windows, fences and police patrols. I guess one guy had something stashed in the chimney of house number 2 because he came back to get whatever it was and seemed utterly confused that the house was gone and decided that he would dig where the chimney was and see if he could find what he lost. They took those houses down fast within 3 days and next we know from experience the Pile Driver is coming next.

Blondunicorn sent me this as she watched everything fall. All of those lush trees are gone.

Our house is...old...I hope it stays standing through this.

I'm glad I wasn't home to see the old trees come down though, some of them were over 40 years old and provided a whole lot of the shade we had in our backyard. Summer is going to be brutal on the back deck this year. What I noticed though was how it messed up the wildlife that lived in the 2 yards. The squirrels and birds were completely screwed up, it was like squirrelmagedon in my backyard and I even watched one launch himself off of a stray cat that I'd never seen before and the cat seemed unfazed by this. Then the raccoon too now practically lives on my roof and coincidentally trapped me the other night so Allan had to save me because they are scared of...nothing!

Babysat the little man until he exhausted himself and passed out on the couch.

Sat was a trip running errands with Blondunicorn and my girls while we made people laugh with our car dancing. We've got to pass on the joy right or mild insanity whichever you prefer.

Then on to a mellow Sunday where the first BBQ of the season for us was had along with the first allergy attacks for me, Sese and Tasha.

With all of the beautiful weather we've had it's a shame that the next few days are full of rain but it's good that things can cool down a bit.

Back to the daily grind. Have a great week!

See Ya

Out Of The Ordinary

Happy Monday Lovelies!

I was short a post last week since I got sick on my birthday and just tried not to die but as the weekend approached it looked like things were beginning to look up.

You know how after being sick, on that first day that you feel better you think that you really feel AMAZING? Don't trust that...ever. since Bean, Sese and I were all sick together and felt better the same day so Bean and I decided to take a walk and run some errands. Although I was glad to be out it was one of those too much too soon things, I got over it though because I knew that I was going to see The Avengers Age of Ultron later that night with half the family.

I saw...I loved... it was all good although I have realized that I don't need to see movies in 3D.

So after a full day and a late night on Saturday, Sunday was going to be my lazy maybe mow the lawn day...more like HAD to mow the lawn day. As I'm sitting on my deck Choo had asked me earlier  that morning f I wanted a motorcycle ( random question ) I said "Eventually..." and said I'd think about it fully knowing that we can't afford to build 2 bikes because he's building one already and but I would entertain the thought. So as I'm soaking up the sun and having a chat with Blondunicorn about the movie I duck inside for I don't remember what and I hear "Um...Steph..." as she's standing in the kitchen doorway looking out back. "Yup?" I say. Dramatic pause "um...your bike is here..."

I'm sorry what?...

She repeated herself and I look outside. " Nah those guys are always driving around with bikes on the back of the truck. he must be just dropping Choo off..." as they lower the ramp, he's smiling and says "Happy Birthday!" and they start unloading a 1968 BSA Thunderbolt...what is that you ask?

I have no idea...

Actually yes I do and do you know why?...because Google is the shit and I looked it up!

Now Choo seems to think my love of British TV should extend into other things, like a motorcycle that I never heard of let alone thought I would ever have. Coincidentally it comes from the same place that is the home of one of my fav British shows right now too Peaky Blinders and as usually I need to be different while my friends and family all own Harley's. I'm OK with that.

So at first I was irritated and mad...really, really irritated but the one thing that I had always wanted to do was build a bike, I can never deny that and now I have the opportunity to learn to do that myself and that sets off some serious excitement for me. I can't wait to strip her down and see what I have to work with but I still find myself saying out loud... "I have a motorcycle"... me...never thought it would happen.

After the shock wore off I went out for coffee with my other Bestie and the most serious baby boy ever lil Cooper with his big blue eyes and was immediately shocked again as I told her about what had happened that morning.

So as ordinary things go...this weekend was not one of them...I...have...a...motorcycle.

She's going to be one Sexy Bitch.

Have a great week!

See Ya

The Brightside Of Winter

Well... Happy Monday...

Can you see...er...read my sarcasm this morning? Why I post on Monday's I have no idea, maybe it makes my day better after checking in with you?...and possibly a caffeine IV.

I'll check after this post.

Funny though I have no idea where this post is going to go today! I saw on the news this morning that today is the most depressing day of the year.

I don't find it depressing so much that it's Monday and that's always a long drawn out drag my ass day, but I think of mid January as the road to the upside of brighter days ahead. Not much longer and the weather will brighten up! Clocks will spring forward and being here in Vancouver it will still rain...A LOT...but that's OK as long as the days are light. I'm already thinking of getting back out there on the porch, in the sun and that keeps me going through the possibly awful Feb we MIGHT have. It is supposed to be the coldest month but I still see things blooming and the squirrels are confused too.

For that matter so are my cats and their fur...Bast is full fluff while Oz maintains his coat but Boscoe...poor Boscoe he's so screwed that his winter fur is in a battle with summer fur and he's starting to look like one of those hideous hairless cats! He just turned 9 though so maybe he's going through a kitty cat midlife crisis.

(Oh ya baby positive thinking, that's how I roll with it)

I got an update on Touring Tony who has a Facebook page and an Instagram page but still hasn't turned up yet at my door! I have been assured that his kidnappers have been notified and he should be making his way to Canada to me and hopefully we don't traumatize him too much!

If your interested in having Touring Tony visit you check out the pages and be sure to follow the instructions and he could be on his way to you.

My weekend was so uneventful that I don't even remember what I did!

I wrote ( that's an improvement )
I posted what I wrote ( also an improvement )
I wrote some more ( a pattern? )
Spent time catching up on You Tube videos ( remembered that I have one to edit and post from forever ago and might forget again )
I did some Social Media Maintenance and realized that there are still some things I know nothing about ( keeps me interested and lost at the same time )
Blondunicorn had her birthday! ( and a tech meltdown but it's all good )
Another friend relived a loss and reminded us that life is precious. ( live every bit of it you can )

What did you do?

Have a great week!
See Ya,
S

Weekend Wrap Up! Besties and Peanut Love.

Hello Lovelies!

Monday again and the weekend held alot this time around with a baby shower and 2 b-day parties. at first I wasn't sure if I was going to make it to both of them because of time constraints but everything worked out as it was meant to be as Roland Deschain ( the Gunslinger ) would say it's Ka. ( I'm re-reading the series because of the book Stephen King wrote that lands smack in the middle of it! ) I'm on book 4 ( my fave ) and the newest one falls in after that one. I call it Book 4.5

My Blonde Bestie ( who's not so blonde anymore ) is expecting her first baby in a few short weeks and never have I seen anyone carry a tiny human with such glowing grace and I kind of hate her for it! I mean I was not graceful...sure as hell not glowing...and not enjoying any part of pregnancy at all but she pulls it off and looks good the whole time. It's funny though Blondunicorn and I were talking about it and for someone who in the past year or so has had to be the center of attention on her road to the wedding and now baby, she takes it in stride and in a way... very quietly and almost shy but you wouldn't know it because she seems so controlled all of the time.

Out of my... ( another Gunslinger phrase ) Ka-tet she is the so not crazy one! She would be the one showing up to pay our bail. You know if we ever needed to be bailed out of... ah...anything.

She had a good haul though and this baby is going to have the best of everything boy or girl it'll be a superstar.

After that it was a short stop home to get hugs and cuddles from my lil Peanut who was uncharacteristically lovey with me AND ACTUALLY CALLED ME LALA...ALOT! He still bites his Aunties periodically...and his Dad but I got kisses and cuddles and hugs OH MY! He's usually a bit of a monster, he understands Lala's tone though and corrects himself or stops throwing things or picks up what he's thrown. As he starts to head towards his 2's we'll see what happens but he always makes me smile.

Then off to Ridge for a 2 in 1 40th day party! My childhood friend that I've know since I was 5 yrs old finally joined the club! That's a long time to know someone and she's the person that I used to call to watch TV and I mean we would be one the phone watching the same show and discussing it all the way through. There's only a few people that you can do that with and that's golden.

Starting off this was supposed to be a surprise party but when I opened her front door she was at the top of the stairs looking at me and says "Hi! I'm not ready yet" This brings me and Blondunicorn to look at each other confused but ultimately shrug and go with it. I hugged my niece Nene, asked if help was needed, got mauled by her cat for a bit and celebrated with her and her brother in law who was the other half of the party.

Now Kris would be the one on our merry band that would be saying "I told you we shouldn't have done that" while we wait for the bail to be paid.

I also have to comment on the fact that they have 5 different kinds of coffee machines and that just makes me proud that I have a coffee addict just as big as me but yet she's an even bigger fanatic because she has quite the one cup collection going on there! I feel like I need to catch up but I would have no counter space left.

After all of that I went home and a changing of the guard had happened Peanut was still there but his daddy was gone and T was there so I hugged her furiously because I don't see her much and it's like we have to get everything out as soon as possible so between all of the women in the house it's like a clucking free for all ( yes I said clucking ) so that all of us can get our information out and take info in at the same time as fast as possible.

I was Bestie day for me and I appreciated every minute that I got to spend with them and all on the same day! It was exhausting by the end of the day though and well worth it.

   I love you guys!

That's it for me, I'm counting down the days to Halloween so excited I still have a costume post to make and that's coming too.

Have a great week!

Girls Day Out, Pulled Pork and a Meteor?

Hello Lovelies!

This is more of a Weekend Wrap Up! Only really concerns one day but meh...whatever.

Saturday was a stellar day for me and with those being so few and far between I felt I had to share. Saturdays are the only day of the week where the men are gone and the girls have the whole house to ourselves. So with that we start our day out with morning coffee out on the deck and usually me, Sese, Bean and Blondunicorn having our morning chat.

What happened last night?
What's going on today?
Who's doing what to who?
and for some reason we always end up talking about boobs...is this normal?

It is for us it is!

So our day started out with a plan. I had been talking all week about making Pulled Pork in the slow cooker so we set out to go shopping for ingredients. We had a plan to stop at the neighbourhood PUB for lunch but oh look... There's McDonald's! So that's what we did.

On the way back full of giggles and food we headed for home, once we got there though hmmm...mommy lost her shit!

Our dogs are never alone...like ever not that they haven' been left alone before but it's very very rare that there is no one home. That being said I opened the door and they had garbage trailing from one end of the house to the other. I knew which dog started it ( Whiskey ) which dog aided ( California ) and which dog thought screw it I'm in ( Smokey ) needless to say...within seconds they were all hiding under something when I saw it. The 4 of us cleaned up the mess...everywhere and then Bean and I started on the Pulled Pork by the seat of our pants. All I can say is that an entire 2litre of A&W Rootbeer was the base of this recipe and we were concerned at first with what we put together but it was the best Pulled Pork I have EVER made!

I've only made it twice! I made sure to canvass the entire house for feedback and it was all good!

Note to self though...never put potatoes somewhere you don't usually put them won't see them for a few months. Sese and Lo got quite the kick out of Bean and I trying to handle that messy problem.

Thank god they didn't have a camera recording...

So after the food buzz and the house quiet Lo and I are outside talking about the day when in the sky I saw something wink into existence that was ON FIRE! Blue ball, red flaming tail is streaking across the dusky sky. I snapped out of it with enough time to frantically get Lo to turn around and she saw the big blue ball with a golden tail of sparks right before it winked out. All of that in maybe...10 seconds! I was shocked because where we live you just don't see that and for me to catch it was AWESOME! It reminded me of how small we are though and that space FREAKS ME OUT!

In all of the excitement though, it was the cherry on my Sundae of the day.

You guys rock!

How Can You Go Wrong With Velvet???

Hello Lovelies!

Did you miss me? Just a little? I hope so!

I was off for a week and I mean off of EVERYTHING Social Media related...except Facebook which I think is almost impossible to ignore for that long. So instead of it being my least used media this week it was my most used.

So sad that the end of Summer is coming but I love the Fall and the cooler weather. Last week was awesome temperature wise so Lo and I baked and slow cooked ourselves and the family to comfy food coma happiness for a few days. Peanut ( grandbaby boy ) kept me entertained and we discussed the upcoming seasonal events with tons of excitement until Lo and her...

Lo- Guess what Steph!
Me- What Lo! (smiles)
Lo - Only 18 more weeks until Christmas!
Me - (smile fades) I hate you.

Helped my other Bestie on Friday move some things into her beautiful new Townhouse.

HEY! not sure if any of you remember the age of Velvet Paintings but she has one that she got from her parents when she moved out and it brought back the weirdest memories of my childhood!

It looks like this...

Is that not the coolest looking thing??? So She loves it, I do too...various random people like the carpet guy putting in her new carpet loved it! The only one who doesn't like it... is her husband so he put it in the basement...that she is scared to go into because it creeps her out...which is funny and mean at the same time if you saw how much she dislikes the basement. Still the painting is so cool and it's sad that it's stuck in the dark. I'm sure it will see the light soon enough though.

Well I hope so anyway!

Besides all of that I had fun hanging out with my girls having strange conversations that make me wonder where they come up with some stuff and as weird as it gets they have perfectly legitimate reasons for thinking the way they do. I miss T though, I don't see her much and wish I saw her more but what can you do right?

So now I'm back in the real world again, behind a desk, tapping a keyboard and really hating every minute of it...

time for something new...

Have a great week!

Up and Down, Up and Down but Green Waste Girl Wears the Crown

Hello Lovelies!

I'm working off 5 more work days and I'm on Vacation for a week! Woo Hoo! I'm a bit scattered today so bare with me.

So... somewhat happily I got sick this past weekend because really who wants to be sick in their vacation. let's get it over with now! I caught a cold ( thanks Bean ) last Thursday and have been fighting it for days now. The funny thing with colds though is how you are almost fully functional! For about a half an hour until you've depleted whatever energy you had built up.

The weather was beautiful on Sat and not too hot...until the fever kicked in but I managed to clean up somewhat and do some indoor gardening, in stages I would manage to trim and water a couple and then have to go sit down, get up plant a baby then go sit down, get up and clip a baby then go sit down, soak some dirt and so on ...it went on like that all day but my 50+ houseplants were pretty happy to get some attention.

Sunday was also beautiful and although my cold felt better the migraine I got, didn't so again it was a day of things in stages and that day it was cleaning out the fridge. Not great to do with a pounding head like a tribal drum and sunlight stabbing through my eyes to my brain but I did it...sort of. Same sort of thing though open the fridge, take something out, throw it in the correct contraption and go sit/lay down and repeat.

You know how things get shoved to the back of the fridge never to be seen again? I've seen them and it was scary so I called in reinforcements...Sese!

Now Sese is the Green Waste Girl in the house. ALL HAIL THE GREEN WASTE BIN! because it gives those lost refrigerator items a place to be disposed and as she is a timid lil thing with everything else go figure that she has the STRONGEST stomach in the house.

I can handle pretty much anything EXCEPT the GWB and why? Lo put it best...because... it... moves. That makes me want to jump out of my skin. I can't even touch the bin thinking about the things that hatch and grow in there ( I think I threw up a little bit ) but Sese the brave girl deals with it like a champ!

We agreed she needs a Cape...and maybe some tights and a staff or wand of worms or a head of lettuce!

I haven't posted the next part of my CF blog due to being sick but it's coming! I was doing really good at making sure there was something readable there every week but I'll get back into it this week.

Oh before I go! Guess who made an appearance and struck a pose for us...

The little Bandit is still around!

K guys have a good week!
See Ya

The Zoo Doesn't Disappoint!

Hello Lovlies...

I was chipper this morning, we pulled into Waterfront Station and there was the first Cruise ship of the season! Lots of tourists now will be flowing on Vancouver streets again as the kick off to the upcoming Summer. That generates a bit of excitement, enough where I had a little spring in my step on the way to the office.

Usually as soon as I open my office door Bob and Doug ( More so Bob )get pretty excited that they are going to be fed especially on Monday's because of the weekend and the first thing I say is Morning Fishies Your Still Alive! This morning Doug wasn't alive and Bob was almost swimming towards the light himself. I changed the water and Bob is no longer swimming sideways and seems to be breathing better...

I think...

I have no idea!

"Why are you talking about fish?" you ask?

Because frankly I'm surprised they have lived this long in the first place being that they are feeder fish. They are the fish that other fish eat or in my case the fish I use to cycle a fish tank for tropical fish so they usually die in a week but these were my first feeder fish pets.

So this is an accomplishment! Well was anyway...

Also because it made me kind of sad at the same time although Doug was the boring one and he never got enough food because Bob was a lil' pig of a fish ( a little Surf and Turf humour there )

Ya ya I know...

In other news, almost all points of my life right now are in a bit of a tornado that has lifted up my house high off the ground and hasn't put it down yet.

A close friend said to me today that my Zoo doesn't disappoint in the drama department. No it doesn't, it's always a gong show but at least my life isn't boring! Even yesterday while I flaked out out, watched Iron Man 3 ( Twice ), X-Men Last Stand and the Avengers all the while thinking about Cosplay Characters I want to be for next year, I watched T straighten an afro on a 29 year old man for about 3 hours for the sole reason of seeing how long it would be...by the end of it he had a Gene Simmons helmet and he rocked it. His hair actually helped me decide on my Cosplay Character!

It was... needless to say... interesting!

Ok guys, Have a good one!
See Ya,
S

Growing Up Is Hard To Do.

Hello Lovlies,

I spent most of the weekend not feeling well and it's typical because the weather was amazing. You know, it was warm enough and so bright out that your eyes just couldn't adjust to it because they've been in the dark, grey and hooded due to rain and grey sky's for the past few months. I noticed alot of picture taking ( My Instagram exploded )and smiling happy faces. Ok...well...a few smiling happy faces and some faces that wished they hadn't gotten out of bed that day.

Watched Bean, Allan and Jeremiah make dinner and BBQ for about 6 hours. In their defence they had a lot of food and a tiny grill to work with but they made it work. Everyone seems to be geared up to get things done this Spring/Summer. I've been asked for Passport applications, the two youngest are getting their Official ID because they will both be turning 19 soon and legal ( That's trouble ), BlondUnicorn is getting ready to insure her Harley for the riding season and I have to do something that I've put off for almost 16yrs...get...my...license. This is the last time, if I don't do it this Summer I'll never drive.

No...I haven't done it yet.
Never really needed to. Transit was my friend and could never fit a car, and insurance, and gas into the budget.
Did take the road test once and failed only because I ran a yellow light...twice...I thought I was too close to the intersection to stop! The instructor said "stop anyway I'm a witness if you get rearended"

Ok then!

First though I get to re-write the learners exam, should be good I got 100% last time and when you've taken the test as many times as I have I think it would be questionable if I didn't get them all right. So back I go again and will book my road test as soon as I pass the learners exam. Drive the crap out of BU's car and pass.

Fan Expo is coming this weekend and I heard that we'll be having FREEZING rain!!! What a way to tease us Mother Nature! Hopefully Sunday will be Sunny Day because I'm going! Just confirmed by Sese and Steven! Sneaky Buggers.

They're lucky I'm not crazy into Cosplay.

We'll that's it for now.

See Ya

Sometimes I'm not quite with it...

I occurred to me last night that my last post was titled Weekend Wrap up. Apparently I said nothing about what I did on the weekend.

Friday after work we got off early at 2 and since the first WCE Train doesn't run until 3:50pm a few of us stopped at Malone's Bar and Grill where I tried, for the first time a Grapefruit Beer.

It was definitely interesting I'm not sure how to explain how that tastes? Not like a beer with Lime and not like one with Lemon kinda strange. Who puts grapefruit in beer? I know they have so many flavours these days and even weirder ones like pumpkin...

I think I just threw up a bit there.  I have figured out though, I am developing a taste for beer where I never had one before.

They say your palette changes every 7 years so maybe it's that time.

Saturday must have been sort of boring because I don't even remember what I did except run errands that never go away and it was mildly crappy out, not the summer we've been waiting for but slight on rain. No zoo like chaos like in  Catching up June 9 - 17or  First the Skunk now a Raccoon?

What I did do was prepare for the next day...Canada Day!

Sunday was food day Bean picked some new recipes for us to try and we had T and Craig here ( T moved out a couple of weeks ago because SURPRISE I'm going to be a step...TBA. T's having a baby but that's another story ) so we were about the food makin'!

Bean and I set about the food prep from about 1pm on for the rest of the day. Why does she always pick the " you think we're simple but, we're not " recipes? We had 2 kitchens in use and thank goodness for that because we made a mess. Then just when I think it's going to be a simple get together I find out that 7-8 more friends of the kids show up. Ok great at least we have enough food but do I need more? I lost my train of though when I saw 3 of the19-20yr old boys, men, or so I thought play a game like hacky sack but without the hacky sack. They called it the Shin Kicking Game.

HOLY CRAP! You're kidding!

They actually attempt to kick each other in the shins. At full force. I'm going to need a beer for this...

pause...

and I got one!

How entertaining was that? More entertaining than watching them try to hit or purple nurple each other for 20 mins. When all the fun was over they took off to watch the fireworks and for the first time in a long time the house was empty. So I set on picking out the phrase for my t-shirt er shirts.

I had to pick 2 because I have to because it sticks in my head and that one is,

Welcome to The Gong Show and the second is picked out of an e-mail sent to me,

Try It You Might Like It!

So simple yet so many different interpretations this one could have. Next week I should have both of them ready and a volunteer to ...as a friend said 'Strut' them!

That was my weekend.
